Fears trade agreement harmful to country

COURTESY TO THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJanuary 30, 2014

Government should not exist, in terms of its priorities, for the protection of the interests of the rich class. I believe the fast track program for the passing of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement is a manifestation of that nasty direction, thanks to big money via lobbies. I believe the Trans-Pacific Partnership will eventually favor overseas jobs versus local domestic jobs.

It appears that President Obama wants Congress to grant him Fast Track trade authority. In this way, he can sign the Trans-Pacific Partnership before Congress even gets to vote, and then move the pact through the legislature with limited debate and no amendments.

Legal experts should be alarmed at the language of the Trans-Pacific Partnership as I believe it favors corporations over governments. You know what this means -- the majority of us will be shortsighted.
