Lummi Nation hosts school bond forum

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJanuary 29, 2014

LUMMI RESERVATION — Lummi Nation is hosting a forum Thursday, Jan. 30, on the Ferndale School District's proposed $125 million bond issue.

The forum, which is open to everyone, will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at the events center of the Silver Reef Hotel Casino Spa at Slater and Haxton roads.

Forum organizer Freddie Lane said the event will feature educators, local and community leaders in panel discussions, and a question-and-answer session for parents, students and voters.

The Whatcom County Auditor's Office has provided a sealed ballot box that voters can use if they wish to deposit their mail-in ballots at the event, Lane said. Ballots are due Feb. 11, and the measure requires 60 percent voter approval.
