Sehome boys wrestling wins its regular-season finale

Sehome's boys' wrestling team scored four pins in a 50-26 win over Nooksack Valley on Tuesday, Jan. 28, at Nooksack Valley High School. This was Sehome's last wrestling match scheduled for the regular season.

The Mariners had pins by Chandler Heintz (113 pounds), Liam Irwin (120), Zach Zimmerman (182) and Briley Funk (285).

The Pioneers had two pins in the match. Caleb Cude got a pin in the 170-pound division, and Joseph Aure scored a fall against Blaise Black in the 138-pound division.

"Aure was losing, he was getting his butt worked in the first round. In the second round he turned (Black) over and pinned him with a great move," Nooksack Valley coach Chad Parson said in a phone interview. "The last four or five matches he has had we've seen change in him. Now he just gets it and he's been on fire."

Nooksack Valley's next match is at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, when the Pioneers host Friday Harbor.
