Section of West Badger Road closing for bridge repairs

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJanuary 26, 2014

A section of West Badger Road between Berthusen and Axling roads west of Lynden will be closed much of this week for bridge repairs.

The weight limit on the bridge there was reduced in November after a routine inspection found damage to a wooden support under the road surface.

That section of West Badger will be closed to all traffic, including school buses and emergency vehicles, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, through Friday, Jan. 31. A detour route will be in place.

About 3,000 vehicles per day cross the bridge, many of them commercial trucks traveling from the Sumas border crossing to Interstate 5, Rutan said.
