Red Raiders roll past Mariners

Behind a combined 30 points from Michaela Knutson and Alyssa Porter, Bellingham's girls' basketball team defeated Sehome 62-44 on Friday, Jan. 24, on the Mariners' home court.

The Red Raiders out-rebounded Sehome 48-35 and the Mariners' coach Kim Kirk attributed that stat to her team's defeat.

"The real killer in the game was getting outrebounded," Kirk said in a phone interview. "We gave them too many opportunities."

Maddy Bryan gave it her best effort in the loss, outscoring everybody on the court with 19 while tallying seven rebounds.

"Maddy played a good game tonight," Kirk said. "She figured out how to attack the hoop with the ball."

The Red Raiders (10-6, NWC 4-4) face Ferndale Thursday, Jan. 30, at home. The Mariners (0-14, NWC 0-6) hit the road to play Lynden Tuesday, Jan. 28.
