Large retail project gets started in Tsawwassen

Posted by DAVE GALLAGHER on January 24, 2014

Construction has begun for two major retail projects just north of Point Roberts.

One is called Tsawwassen Mills, which will have 1.2 million square feet of retail, with 16 anchor tenants. That's almost twice the size of Bellis Fair. One tenant there will be Bass Pro Shop, which will take up 145,000 square feet of space.

The other development is called Tswwassen Commons, which will have 550,000 square feet of outdoor retail space. Announced tenants are Walmart and RONA, a Canadian home renovation/gardening retailer.

Both projects are being developed on Tsawwassen First Nation Lands. The plan is to have the projects done in the spring of 2016, according to a news release.
