Meridian bounces back with win over La Conner


Meridian boys' basketball rebounded from a tough loss on Tuesday, Jan. 21, with a 51-37 win over La Conner on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at La Conner. The Trojans were led by Alex Martin's 12 points.

Blake Briones had 11 points, and Nick Rautenberg added nine points, a game-high 10 rebounds and three steals for Meridian.

"(Rautenberg) is a blue-collar guy off the bench. He's not the biggest guy, but he's doing good things off the bench," Meridian coach Shane Stacy said in a phone interview. "Jake Plagerman played a solid game and took some good shots. He's one of our leaders defensively, along with Blake (Briones)."

Plagerman had seven points, and Sam Chambers had eight more.

Meridian plays next at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at home against Blaine.
