Second-half pressure gets to Blackhawks

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJanuary 21, 2014

Lummi's boys' basketball team allowed 41 points in the second half to Tulalip Heritage after taking a three-point lead into halftime, as the Blackhawks lost 64-49 on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Tulalip Heritage High School.

"Tulalip woke up in the second half," coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview. "Credit their defense for creating turnovers. We just can't give up 41 points in one half of basketball."

The Blackhawks turned the ball over 19 times in the loss, many of which came in the second half.

"We just lost our composure and cool in the second half," Toby said. "The pressure got to us. They got going and we couldn't stop the wave."

Lummi was led by Logan Toby and Trazil Lane, who each scored 10.

The Blackhawks are back in action to take on Providence Classical Christian on Thursday, Jan. 23, on the road.
