Sehome boys lock down Blaine

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJanuary 21, 2014

Sehome's boys' basketball team used stifling defense to hold Blaine to just 9-of-35 shooting, ensuring a 71-28 Northwest Conference win for the Mariners on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Blaine.

Sehome was led by Evan Miksovsky's 16 points and five assists, both game highs.

"Miksovsky is a solid all-around player ... he was a good leader from what I could see," Blaine coach Shaun Pile said in a phone interview. "Sehome's aggressive defense took us out of everthing we wanted to do."

Sean Herrig led the Borderites with seven points.

Marcus Montag added 12 points for the Mariners and Leif Anderson had 13 more. The Sehome defense forced Blaine into 26 turnovers.

Sehome plays next at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at home against Bellingham. Blaine looks to bounce back on Friday, Jan. 24, at Meridian.
