Rebounds help Blaine girls to win over Sehome

Blaine's girls' basketball team won the battle of the boards to help the Borderites to a 69-39 win over Sehome on Monday, Jan. 20, at Sehome High School. The Borderites had 35 rebounds to the Mariners' 19.

Taylor V'Dovec led Blaine with 20 points. Breanna Chau, Olivia Olason and Mandy Hayes each added 10 for the Borderites.

"We had a little more energy in the second half," Sehome coach Kim Kirk said of her team outscoring Blaine 24-23 in the second half.

Maddy Bryan led the Mariners with 11 points and Megan Bayless had 10. Devin Grahn added seven points, including two 3-pointers, and four rebounds.

"Grahn is just that type of do-anything kid, she plays hard on both ends of the floor," Kirk said.

Blaine looks for another win at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at home against Meridian. Sehome will hope to earn its first win at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, at Bellingham.
