Defense leads Lummi boys to another win

Lummi's boys' basketball team rolled to its second win in three nights with a 65-19 victory over Lopez on Monday, Jan. 20, at Lummi. The Blackhawks were led by Trazil Lane's 18 points and seven rebounds in the winning effort.

Lummi earned its second win over Lopez in as many weeks the same way it did the first time - defensively. The Blackhawks held Lopez to just 7-of-44 shooting in the game and forced 12 turnovers. Dean Williams and Kavarez Lane each had three steals.

"Defensively we did a great job. I was pleased with their effort on both ends of the court tonight," Lummi coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview. "Our 'bigs' did a good job controlling the paint, they did a good job on the glass tonight."

Jacob Roberts and Williams each added 11 points for the Blackhawks.

Lummi's next game is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, at Tulalip Heritage.
