WWU's Hill named GNAC Player of the Week


Western Washington University center Sarah Hill has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 12-18.

Hill, a 6-foot-3 senior from Richmond, Va., scored 27 points and grabbed 30 rebounds in helping the Vikings into a tie for the conference lead with a pair of road victories that extended their winning streak to four.

Hill, who made 10-of-22 field goals, also contributed three blocks, three steals and one assist. On Thursday, she had a double-double with career highs of 18 points and 16 rebounds in a 78-58 triumph at Western Oregon. Hill just missed a double-double on Saturday, scoring nine points and grabbing 14 rebounds in a 79-73 win at league-leading Saint Martin's.
