Seven Whatcom County divers qualified for districts after competing in the WIAA District 1 Dive on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Squalicum's Christian Herzberger (4th) was the highest Whatcom County finisher with a point total of 247.1. Archbishop Murphy's Elliott Forde won the event with a 360.85.

Squalicum's Wilson Dierdorf (5th, 232.7), Griffin Korby (6th, 222.05) and Gabe Kamkoff (8th, 196.6) all qualified for districts.

"I like what I'm seeing," Squalicum coach Randy Elsner said in a phone interview. "It's three freshman and a senior that are consistently placing in the higher end of districts during dual meets. I know the dive coach is very pleased."

Bellingham also had three district-qualifiers in Chad Cheldelin (7th, 216.9), Koa Hanks (13th, 158.9) and Trip Jackson (14th, 155.7).
