Wilson, Lane lead Lummi to lopsided boys' basketball win

Strong scoring nights from Kavarez Lane and Charlie Wilson helped the Lummi boys' basketball team earn a 83-34 league win against Providence Classical Christian on Saturday, Jan. 18, on the road.

Lane scored a game-high 21 points and Wilson added 20. Both were each players' season high.

"Kavarez and Charlie had outstanding games," Lummi coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview. "We have an unselfish team, and every night it's a different guy. Tonight it was Charlie and Kavarez."

Lummi (12-1) won its third straight, and it didn't take long for the Blackhawks to clinch the win.

Lummi outscored Providence Classical Christian 27-6 in the first quarter and took a 47-11 halftime lead.

"Our man-to-man defense is improving each game," Toby said. "We are playing the passing lanes and really communicating."

Trazil Lane, who leads the Blackhawks in scoring with 13.2 points per game, scored 10, Austin Brockie added nine and Logan Toby chipped in seven.

Trazil grabbed a team-high 10 boards and Kavarez recorded seven assists and led Lummi with four 3-pointers.
