Bellingham girls lose at Anacortes

The Bellingham girls' basketball team tried to rally at the end but lost 48-45 on Friday, Jan. 17, at Anacortes in Northwest Conference play.

"It was back and forth," Bellingham coach Ed Wissing said in a phone interview. "It seemed every time our team had a run the other team had a response."

Abigail McLellan had 11 points for the Red Raiders, who fell to 8-6 overall and 2-4 in league, and Ashley Spink and Alyssa Porter had nine points each. Porter also had five assists and Alicia Romero and Michaela Knutson each had six rebounds.

Wissing said Bellingham made too many mistakes in the loss.

"We didn't protect the ball enough and that gave them too many extra possessions.
