Ellenwood scores 15, but Lummi girls fall

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJanuary 17, 2014

Lummi's girls' basketball team lost 53-31 to Lopez on Friday, Jan. 17, at Lopez High School. The Blackhawks were led by Harley Ellenwood's 15 points.

"We played really good defense, they just got some fast breaks on us," Lummi coach Randy Kaui said in a phone interview. "We started to shoot better. We're going in the right direction."

The Blackhawks were without their leading scorer, Treena Humphreys. Issabella James added four points for Lummi.

"It was nice that the girls didn't get down (without Humphreys)," Kaui said. "Some of them got their first points of the season, Carla Lawrence, Thelma Wall and Jane Jefferson. It was nice for them to step up and take the shot."

Lummi will look for revenge when the Blackhawks host Lopez on Monday, Jan. 20.
