The Lynden boys' wrestling team defeated Anacortes 45-31 on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Lynden High School.

The Lions were led by their lower-weight wrestlers, getting wins from Jordan Scotter, Primitivo Cruz, Johnny Lara, Christian Mouat, Kollin George and Andy Herrera.

"We took the lead early and didn't relinquish it," Lynden coach Randy Anderson said in a phone interview. "Our lower-weight guys did the job."

Mouat, as he has done all season, pulled out a tough win by way of major decision, 10-3.

"He's our rock right now," Anderson said. "Guys are trying to rise up for what he's putting forth."

Lynden will be back in action at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Sehome High School in the Northwest Conference Championships.
