Senior Night gives big win to Baker wrestling

Mount Baker's boys' wrestling team celebrated Senior Night with five of its six seniors picking up victories while the Mountaineers topped Squalicum 57-15 on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Mount Baker High School.

"I was pleased with the seniors," Baker coach Ron Lepper said in a phone interview. "They wrestled hard."

Jeremiah Cronk was also a wrestler who impressed Lepper when Cronk came back from a 4-1 deficit to win by an 8-6 decision. Kole Hickey also picked up his first varsity win in the heavyweights class.

"We're all taking big steps," Lepper said. "We got to a late start and we're getting better and better."

Baker (4-0) and Squalicum (2-3) hit the mat again on Saturday, Jan. 18, at Sehome High School to compete in the NWC Tournament.
