BELLINGHAM - A taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint after giving a couple a ride from the Samish Way area to Texas Street Tuesday evening, Jan. 14, according to the Bellingham Police Department.

A 59-year-old taxi driver picked up a man and a woman on Samish Way and was going to drop them off on Texas Street at about 6:40 p.m. when the man pulled out a knife and held it to the driver's neck, Lt. Robert Vander Yacht said.

The man said he was going to cut the driver and then took his money. The couple ran from the cab. Police used dogs to try to track the couple but were unable to find them.

Detectives were working on the case Wednesday.
