LC girls stifle Anacortes

Lynden Christian girls' basketball had a strong first half and rolled to a 42-29 Northwest Conference win over Anacortes on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Lynden Christian. The Lyncs were led by Courtney Hollander's 16 points and seven rebounds.

The Lyncs held a 26-10 lead at halftime and needed just 16 points in the second half to finish off the Seahawks.

"First half we did really well defensively, both teams struggled on turnovers tonight," Lynden Christian coach Curt De Haan said in a phone interview. "Courtney played a solid game for us and Makayla Lancaster held (Tania) Daou, their leading scorer, to one basket."

The two teams combined for 48 turnovers in the game.

Karley De Jager added seven points and Sally Vlas pitched in seven rebounds for the Lyncs.

Lynden Christian's game against Lynden has been moved to 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at Lynden Christian.
