Shooting troubles Meridian boys in loss

The Meridian boys' basketball team couldn't find its shot as the Trojans took a 49-26 loss to Friday Harbor on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Friday Harbor. The Trojans were led by Blake Briones' 15 points and six rebounds, both team highs for the night.

Meridian shot just 9 for 35 from the field, while Friday Harbor shot 21 of 32.

"Nobody really had their 'A-game' going, Blake just willed himself to a decent game with his decent hustle," Meridian coach Shane Stacy said in a phone interview.

Stacy said scoring just one point in the third quarter and letting Friday Harbor's Otis Cooper-West hit four 3-pointers in the first quarter were what sealed the Trojans' fate.

Meridian's next game is at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at Ferndale.
