Hastings, Martin lead Lions past Pioneers

Jaremy Martin and Scott Hastings combined for 37 points as Lynden's boys' basketball team rolled past Nooksack Valley 71-32 on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Nooksack Valley High School.

"Lynden's a very good team," Nooksack coach Tyler Mitchell said in a phone interview. "They're very well coached, very athletic and very big."

The Pioneers were led by Connor Beard, who had 16 points and three assists - both were team-highs.

"Beard did a nice job of getting to the rim," Mitchell said. "He saw the gaps in the zone and got to the basket."

Both teams are back in action on Friday, Jan. 17. Lynden (11-1, NWC 4-1) will play Lynden Christian and Nooksack (0-11, NWC 0-5) will face Burlington-Edison.
