Ferndale boys rain threes in win over Blaine


Ferndale's boys' basketball team poured on nine 3-pointers as the Golden Eagles defeated Blaine 71-46 in a Northwest Conference game Monday, Jan. 13, at Blaine. Brady Shearer led Ferndale with 14 points.

Ben Hodgin was the Borderites' top scorer with 14 points.

"Our guys did a good job working together as a team, we really worked the ball around," Blaine coach Shaun Pile said in a phone interview. "Ferndale just shared the ball well and knocked down their shots."

Blaine out-rebounded Ferndale 33-25, with Hodgin and Sean Herrig each grabbing eight rebounds for the Borderites.

Kier Munzanreder added 12 points for Ferndale and John Weg had 11 more. Malik Ivory also had nine points, and team-highs in rebounds (five) and assists (four).

Blaine's next game is at Squalicum, at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16. Ferndale looks for another win at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at home against Meridian.
