Bellingham Library to reopen on Sundays starting in February

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJanuary 12, 2014

BELLINGHAM - The central branch of Bellingham Public Library will reopen on Sundays starting Feb. 2.

The library at 210 Central Ave. will open 1 to 5 p.m. on Sundays because the Bellingham City Council included money in the 2014 budget to restore the hours.

The Sunday hours will be in effect only during the school year.

The library will provide basic services on Sundays, which means no special programs or delivery of library materials.

Library hours were reduced by 28 hours in the fall of 2009 when the city's budget shrank because of the recession.

With a better economic outlook, eight open hours a week were being returned - four to the Barkley library branch in November 2011 and four at the central branch in February.
