Pioneers come close, but fall to La Conner

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJanuary 11, 2014

Nooksack Valley came up short in a 62-53 loss to La Conner on Saturday, Jan. 11, as the Pioneers lost their 10th-straight game.

Seth Taron led the Pioneers with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Tanner Myhre had 15 points, including three 3-pointers.

"Myhre had a great second quarter," Nooksack coach Tyler Mitchell said in a phone interview. "Hitting 3s is usually not his forte, but he came out and was feeling it a bit."

Connor Beard also did a nice job distributing the ball with six assists, but the Pioneers struggled to slow La Conner's attack down.

"We just had a hard time stopping them," Mitchell said. "We had pretty good effort, though. We worked pretty well together and never gave up."

The Pioneers (0-10) face Lynden on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Nooksack Valley High School.
