Strong first half nets Ferndale girls a win over Sehome

Ferndale's girls' basketball team played tight defense in the first half and held off an improving Sehome team in the second to take a 58-42 win on Friday, Jan. 10, at Sehome High School. Linsey Honeycutt led the Golden Eagles with 19 points in the Northwest Conference game.

Maddy Bryan led the Mariners with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

"Maddy is just improving and improving, not just on the court, but as a leader," Sehome coach Kim Kirk said in a phone interview. "Honeycutt and Hannah Carlson hurt us in transition. They got most of their points really in the first half."

Honeycutt had 15 of her 19 points in the first half and Carlson had eight of her 15 in the first.

Megan Bayless added 13 points for Sehome.

Ferndale held Sehome to just 15 points in the first half. The teams combined for 42 turnovers.
