Trojans squeak out victory over Storm

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJanuary 10, 2014

Meridian's boys' basketball team withstood a late run from the Squalicum Storm to win 42-39 on Friday, Jan. 10, at Squalicum High School.

The Trojans were up seven with two minutes left and Squalicum made a run, but it came up short.

"It was too little, too late," Storm coach Dave Dickson said in a phone interview. "Meridian played smart. They did a nice job."

Meridian was led by Alex Martin, who scored 13 points. Five Trojans scored more than five points.

"Credit Meridian, they had balanced scoring," Dickson said. "They also did a good job defensively, keeping us off balanced."

The Trojans (5-5, NWC 2-2) travel to take on Friday Harbor on Tuesday, Jan. 14. The Storm (5-5, NWC 1-2) play Blaine on Tuesday, Jan. 14, on the road.
