Austin Jenckes returns to WWU with concert tonight


Fresh from his run on TV's "The Voice," Western Washington University alumnus Austin Jenckes returns to campus to perform at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10, at the Performing Arts Center.

Jenckes' major at WWU was communications and he minored in audio recording at Fairhaven College. About two years ago he moved to Nashville, Tenn., to pursue his musical dream.

He survived several eliminations on this season's "The Voice," making the top 10, and gained a large fan following. He played his late father's guitar, always wore a hat and flashed a big smile.

Bellingham musicians Polecat and Cody Beebe also perform in the all-ages concert. Tickets, $10 general, $7 WWU students, are at 360-650-6146 and

Jenckes will visit with WWU students and faculty from 1:30 to 2:20 p.m. Jan. 10 at Fairhaven College auditorium before his concert.
