Golden Eagles roll to victory over Red Raiders

Ferndale's boys' wrestling team won its fifth match of the season, beating Bellingham 60-21 on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Bellingham High School.

The Golden Eagles were highlighted by Patrick Condon's pin in the 220-pound class.

"They had a good time out there and looked good," Ferndale coach Chet Slevin said in a phone interview. "Patrick Condon looked awesome."

The Red Raiders were battling injuries but coach Tom Hinz found several highlights in the match. Ben Donnelly (120), Babak Abedsaidi (145) and Alvin Roberts (152) all impressed the coach.

"Those three guys looked really good," Hinz said in a phone interview.

Ferndale (5-1) wrestles in the Panther Classic on Saturday, Jan. 11, at Snohomish High School. Bellingham (0-4) wrestles next in the Burlington-Edison Team Duals on Saturday, Jan. 11, at Burlington-Edison High School.
