Mount Baker's boys' wrestling team won its third straight meet with a 48-33 victory over Anacortes on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Anacortes High School.
Bryce Blockley, Joseph Larranaga and Jeremiah Cronk got things going in the right direction for the Mountaineers with three straight pins.
"It was big that we got some pins," coach Ron Lepper said in a phone interview. "We bumped some guys up to fill our lineup and it was key to the match that we got those three pins in a row."
Kolton Zender stayed alive in the 195-pound class by not getting pinned and Lepper noted that it was a big part of getting the win.
JT Kenney also got a pin in the 220-pound class, despite falling behind 16-4. His pin over James Swanson in 4:52 sealed the win for Baker.
"He kept working and kept moving," Lepper said. "He even fought off his back a couple times."
The Mountaineers (3-0) return home to face Squalicum on Wednesday, Jan. 15.
