Bellingham police arrest 2 on drug-dealing charges


BELLINGHAM - Two Seattle residents who traveled to Bellingham allegedly to deal heroin and methamphetamine have been arrested by the Bellingham Police Department's Special Investigation Unit.

Carlos Gutierrez-Reyes, 31, and Nicole Marie Simpson, 33, were arrested in the 700 block of Lakeway Drive on Jan. 3, police announced Wednesday.

Investigators seized more than 70 grams of heroin and nearly 9 grams of methamphetamine. Police estimated the street value at $7,800.

Gutierrez-Reyes, whom police say admitted he is a member of the South Side Locos, also had $2,500 in cash on him and a digital scale. He has previous drug arrests, police said.

Both people were booked into Whatcom County Jail on suspicion of dealing heroin. Gutierrez-Reyes also was booked for possession of heroin and methamphetamine with intent to deliver.
