Blackhawks rally to top Tulalip Heritage

Lummi's boys' basketball team didn't fold under the pressure and rallied to beat Tulalip Heritage 65-62 on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Lummi High School.

The Blackhawks were down 14 points at the half, but they outscored their opponents 42-25 in the second to steal the game back. Trazil Lane was especially clutch late in the game with 11 points in the fourth quarter. He scored 25 on the night.

"Trazil had a great game," coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview. "I'm pleased with the maturity he showed as a freshman."

Lummi iced the game by hitting nine of its 11 free throws in the fourth quarter.

"Credit Tulalip with coming out and putting defensive pressure on us in the first half," Toby said. "We had a little regroup at halftime and in the second half we hung in there and responded."

Lummi stays at home to face Neah Bay on Saturday, Jan. 11.
