Golden Eagles win turnover battle, tops Cubs

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJanuary 7, 2014

Ferndale's Linsey Honeycutt recorded her fifth-straight double-double and the Golden Eagles' girls' basketball team rolled to a 62-31 victory over Sedro-Woolley on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Ferndale High School.

Honeycutt led the team with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Brooke Benson added 10 points, eight rebounds, four steals and three blocks.

The Golden Eagles forced 31 turnovers and had 23 steals, which led to a lopsided win.

"We were super consistent," coach Mike Ivy said in a phone interview. "We got double figures in each quarter and kept them under double figures. That's what we try for each game."

Ivy noted that all 11 girls played well on the night and with a deep bench, good things happen.

The Golden Eagles play Sehome on Friday, Jan. 10, on the road.
