Squalicum's Krussow wins all-around title at Holiday Challenge


Squalicum's Madi Krussow turned some heads on Saturday, Jan. 4, as she took first place in all four events, leading the Storm to a second-place finish at the Holiday Challenge in Shorewood, Wash.

Bellingham took third place at the five-team event and Sehome finished fifth. Shorewood won the event and Shorecrest took fourth.

"All three city schools had full teams on every event," coach Doriane Gunnels said in a phone interview. "We showed what we learned over break."

Sehome's Catalina Gibbons took third-place overall as she finished fourth in the vault, second in bars and fifth in balance beam. Bellingham's Ariel McGavock took second in balance beam and fourth in the floor event.
