Improvement noticeable for Lummi in loss

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDJanuary 4, 2014

Lummi's girls' basketball team couldn't get past Shoreline Christian, as the Blackhawks fell 53-42 on Saturday, Jan. 4, at Lummi High School.

The loss isn't leaving coach Randy Kaui upset, though.

"We played really well," Kaui said in a phone interview. "It was a well-managed game. It was the first time this year we were playing good team ball."

Dawn James led the Blackhawks with 18 points and Treen Humphreys chipped in 14.

So what does Lummi (0-6) need to do to start winning?

"We got to make our layups," Kaui said with a laugh. "We must have missed eight layups today."

The Blackhawks are back in action on Monday, Jan. 6, to take on Grace Academy on the road.
