Lummi's defense sparks big win

Lummi boys' basketball could do no wrong as they rolled to a 73-28 win over Shoreline Christian on Saturday, Jan. 4, at Lummi High School. Kavarez Lane led the Blackhawks with 17 points.

Lummi held Shoreline Christian scoreless in the first quarter and to just two points in the third as it locked down defensively. The Blackhawks grabbed 14 steals.

"I thought we had a great start defensively, played really aggressive and played the passing lanes well," Lummi coach Jerome Toby said in a phone interview.

Trazil Lane added 12 points and seven rebounds. Dean Williams had six points and seven steals for the Blackhawks.

Lummi's next game is at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 6, at Grace Academy.
