Nonprofit board workshop is Jan. 31 in Bellingham

BELLINGHAM - People can learn the basics of serving on a nonprofit board during a Friday, Jan. 31, workshop offered by the Washington Secretary of State.

Put on by its Corporations and Charities Division, the "Nonprofit Board Service 101" workshop will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at St. Luke's Community Health Education Center, 3333 Squalicum Parkway.

Liz Heath of Sound Nonprofits in Tacoma will be the main presenter. Heath has more than 35 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with an emphasis on nonprofit board governance.

Teresa Glidden will discuss registration and renewal requirements for charities and nonprofits in the state. She is the division's education coordinator.

The cost is $10 per person, including lunch. Registration is limited and can be done online at sos.wa.gov/charities/training.
