Poor shooting plagues Baker boys in loss

Mount Baker's boys' basketball team couldn't find its shooting stroke as the Mountaineers lost 62-46 to Tamanawis Secondary (B.C.) on Friday, Jan. 3, at home. Mount Baker was led by Reuben Murashov's 26 points in the losing effort.

Baker (1-6, 0-1 Northwest Conference) shot just 18 of 56 from the field, and shot only seven free throws. Murashov also had four of the Moutaineers' five 3-pointers.

Mount Baker coach Rob Gray said it was tough to compete with a bigger school with a 6-foot-9 and two 6-6 players.

"They were able to get a lot of second-chance points, which hurt us," Gray said in a phone interview," and we obviously didn't shoot very well."

Mount Baker plays next at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at home against Lynden Christian.
