Carlson, Honeycutt record double-doubles in Ferndale girls' win

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDDecember 28, 2013

The Hannah Carlson-Linsey Honeycutt duo was in full force Saturday, Dec. 28, for the Ferndale girls' basketball team's 57-35 win over Enumclaw at the KINGCO/WESCO Challenge at Juanita High School.

Carlson had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Honeycutt had 16 points and 14 rebounds. Honeycutt was the leader in both categories for the game, despite finding foul trouble early.

"Linsey had three quick fouls in the first half," Ferndale coach Mike Ivy said in a phone interview. "Brooke Benson had eight points for us in the first half and got us off to a good start."

Benson finished with eight points, four blocks and three steals. Ivy was happy with the Golden Eagles' defense.

"(Enumclaw) only went to the free-throw line seven times," Ivy said. "Our goal is to keep the other team under 10 points in a quarter, and we did it twice tonight."

Ferndale's next game is at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, at the KINGCO/WESCO Challenge against Roosevelt.
