Pioneers girls blow by Overlake Christian


Nooksack Valley girls' basketball rolled to a 56-8 victory over Overlake Christian on Friday, Dec. 27, at Overlake Christian High School. Three Pioneers' players individually outscored Overlake Christian in the win.

Lindsay Hayes scored a game-high 14 points, and Arlissa Oettel and Cheyanna Maxwell each added 10 points.

The Pioneers out-rebounded Overlake Christian 39-24, led by Brianna Turner's 12 boards.

"We have to work on taking care of the ball and limiting mistakes," Nooksack Valley coach Shane Wichers said in a phone interview, alluding to his team's 20 turnovers. "The team did a good job taking what was available."

Nooksack Valley's next game is at 7:15 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at home against Blaine.
