Knutson drops 24 in Red Raiders' win over Oak Harbor

Michaela Knutson scored 24 points and the Bellingham girls' basketball team rolled to a 49-30 victory over Oak Harbor on Friday, Dec. 27, in the Prostock Winter Classic at Mount Vernon High School.

Knutson scored 18 points in the first half and the Red Raiders took a 29-14 lead into the locker room and didn't look back.

"It was a real standout performance from Michaela Knutson," coach Ed Wissing said in a phone interview. "She was making baskets from everywhere. Her teammates recognized that and found the hot hand."

The game was very up-tempo - a style Wissing's team thrives in, he said.

"We want to stick with what's been working and continue to play up-tempo," Wissing said.

The Red Raiders finish the Classic with a game against Lakewood on Saturday, Dec. 28, at Mount Vernon High School.
