Red Raiders flourish in overtime to grab win

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDDecember 27, 2013

Bellingham's boys' basketball team went into enemy territory and defeated the host of the Prostock Winter Classic, Mount Vernon, 75-67 in overtime on Friday, Dec. 27.

The Red Raiders had four players score in double digits to snag the win.

"It was a good win," coach Brad McKay said in a phone interview. "We had good balance in our lineup and we did a good job of moving the ball."

Bellingham turned the ball over twice late and Mount Vernon forced overtime, but the Red Raiders easily handled the overtime period.

"I felt like we didn't have a very good close to the end of regulation," McKay said. "But I'm proud they bounced back and moved on to the next play. They had a great overtime and ran away with it. It gives us a lot of confidence."

The Red Raiders face undefeated Stanwood on Saturday, Dec. 28, at Mount Vernon High School.
