Blaine boys limit turnovers in win


Blaine boys' basketball clamped down on its turnovers and earned a 65-59 victory over B.C. Christian Academy on Friday, Dec. 27, at Blaine High School in the Blaine Holiday Classic. The Borderites were led by Josiah Westbrook's 20 points in the win.

"We were able to get on the fastbreak, get the 2-on-1s and 3-on-2s," Blaine coach Shaun Pile said in a phone interview.

Blaine only committed 11 turnovers and held B.C. Christian to just nine points in the second quarter. B.C. Christian fought back in the second half, outscoring the Borderites 37-26.

Carson Knutzen added 10 points and Anthony Ball had nine for Blaine. Pile said Ben Hodgin did a good job off the bench in the game, hitting some key free throws en route to his eight points.

Blaine's next game is at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, against Tamanawis in the Blaine Holiday Classic championship game.
