Golden Eagles can't overcome poor shooting in loss to Centralia

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDDecember 27, 2013

Ferndale's boys' basketball team fell to Centralia 65-50 on Friday, Dec. 27, in the Mountlake Terrace Holiday Tournament.

Brady Shearer and John Weg had 12 and 10 points, respectively, but the Golden Eagles couldn't rally behind the duo.

"We got totally outplayed in every phase of the game today," coach Monte Walton said in a phone interview. "We lived too much on 3-point shooting."

The Golden Eagles shot 25 times from beyond the arc - an amount Walton says is far too many. Ferndale only made four 3-pointers.

"We are more of an inside team anyway," Walton said. "We were just tossing them up."

Ferndale plays Marysville-Pilchuck on Saturday, Dec. 28, at Mountlake Terrace High School.
