Cloud 9 Sports Christmas Classic begins Friday, Dec. 27

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDDecember 26, 2013

Some of the top Class 1A and 2A girls' and boys' basketball teams in the state will play in the Cloud 9 Sports Christmas Classic on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 27-28, at Lynden Christian for two days of high-caliber basketball.

Highligting the tournament is a rematch of last year's Hardwood Classic quarterfinal between the Brewster and Lynden Christian girls' basketball teams. Brewster beat LC, and the clubs are argubably the top two teams in the 1A ranks. Other 1A powers include Blaine, Cashmere, Mount Baker and Cascade Christian.

"Many who follow basketball believe that Brewster and LC are the state's two best 1A teams," LC boys' coach Roger DeBoer wrote in email. "Blaine, Cashmere, Mount Baker and Cascade Christian may also be included in the top-10 conversation."

Top boys' matchups include Lynden Christian vs. Brewster, Sehome vs. Cashmere and Meridian vs. Oregon powerhouse De La Salle Catholic.

The tournament tips off with Mount Baker's girls' team against Cascade Christian at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27.
