Tuesday night isn't always the liveliest time to whoop it up, but Dec. 31 falls on that day in 2013, so there will no doubt be lots of fireworks (last chance, Bellinghamsters, to legally celebrate a holiday with sparklers until next New Year's Eve).

Among the events: The Atlantics play at Semiahmoo Resort, Scary Monsters & the Super Creeps play at the Shakedown, Bellingham Dance Company hosts a "Midnight in Paris" gala, and Yogoman and his Burning Band play at the Green Frog.

Out-of-town, the Mark DuFresne Band plays with Wayne Horton and Slim Fat Lips in a dinner-buffet show at Conway Muse, "Evita" opens at Seattle's Paramount Theatre, and Poncho Sanchez and his band perform at Seattle's Jazz Alley.

For more events; search "Dec. 31" or "New Year's Eve" on The Bellingham Herald's online calendar.
