The Offshoots grew from Bellingham singer-songwriter duo Beth and Paul Schramer's roots in performing in the Northwest as The Ducks and Redux.

Now they collaborate on unique but classic-sounding tunes and lyrics that rival any of the tunes they've covered. In 2010, drummer Phil Carter and bassist Mark Schramer (Paul's brother) joined The Offshoots to give depth, intelligence and dance-ability to the group's classically rocking songs.

They'll play old tunes and new ones from their upcoming recording, "String Theory," at 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at Green Frog, 1015 N. State St. Cover is $5.
