Trojans rebuild coming to fruition

Meridian's boys' wrestling is in the second year of a rebuilding process after the program returned to the school, but two wrestlers are showing they can compete.

Jackson Day took fourth in the 195-pound class at the Paul Reiman Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Mount Vernon High School. Treven Elgersma finished sixth at the tournament as well.

"They both wrestled hard," coach Fred Pulphus said in a phone interview. "We have a young team and they are learning, but they are excited to wrestle and compete."

The Trojans next compete in the Cardinal Classic on Saturday, Jan. 4, at Franklin Pierce High School in Tacoma.
