Storm pull out win despite sloppy play

Squalicum overcame poor shooting and turnovers to pull out a 40-37 win over Friday Harbor on Saturday, Dec. 21, at Friday Harbor High School.

The Storm committed 16 turnovers and shot only 32.4 percent from the field.

"We struggled offensively," Storm coach Dave Dickson said in a phone interview. "We weren't our normal, crisp selves offensively."

What the Storm lacked on the offensive end, it more than made up for on the defensive end. It forced 17 turnovers.

After a 14-2 lead in the first quarter, the Storm slowly gave way to Friday Harbor before pulling it out at the end.

"I think we did a nice job down the stretch of not panicking and executing," Dickson said. "We recognized the situation we put ourselves in and showed a lot of savvy. I was proud of that."

The Storm take on Auburn Riverside in the SunDome Shootout on Friday, Dec. 27.
