THE BELLINGHAM HERALDDecember 21, 2013

The Lynden Christian boys' basketball team earned a 59-54 non-league win against Cedar Park Christian in a showcase game Saturday, Dec. 21, at the ShoWare Center in Kent.

The game was a rematch of last year's Class 1A State Tournament game for third and fifth place. LC lost and placed fifth, but beat Cedar Park Christian during last season's tri-district title game.

"It was really exciting," LC coach Roger De Boer said in a phone interview. "It had a little postseason feel to it without a doubt. I was excited with how our kids performed."

Zach Roetcisoender scored a team-high 19 points and Grant Wolffis added 12. The Lyncs out-rebounded Cedar Park 36-32 and Logan Carlson hauled in a team-high eight. Josh Hornstra had seven boards.

Lynden Christian trailed 26-24 at half, led by one entering the fourth and Josiah Meppelink and Roetcisoender hit key free throws in the final minutes to clinch the win.
